At the March monthly membership meeting on Tuesday the 8th, the local will be looking for people to attend the CUPE NL Provincial Convention and also looking for members to become trustees. Provincial Convention is a great opportunity to see and become involved in the activities of CUPE across our province. Having the remaining two Trustee positions filled is important for or local, and to find out more about the role see section 8.8 of our by-laws.
Also at the March 8th meeting, in accordance with section 14 of our local’s constitution, we will be asking for interest in sitting on the Negotiating Committee that will participate in the upcoming collective bargaining activities.
To be eligible for either of these opportunities you must be a “member in good standing”, meaning that you must have attended 50% of the membership meetings in the past twelve months. More specific details will be provided at the meeting about each. There are a limited number of spaces available for these committees and the event so if more interest is expressed than spaces available, a vote will be held.
