The CUPE 1615 Executive Board, the Social Committee and members at the most recent Regular Meeting of members have decided to have a member engagement event over coffee, tea, muffins and donuts!
We are expecting representatives from CUPE Newfoundland and Labrador as well as CUPE National to join us. Brief remarks will be made by the union local President and possibly by our CUPE NL President.
Coordination with other campuses and satellite locations where CUPE 1615 members work has not yet been finalized though there has been a decision by the members on approval to expend money for all members of the local to enjoy a coffee break. Union local members at satellite locations can be reimbursed up to $10 with an itemized receipt for cofree, tea, donuts or muffins. Grenfell campus did already have coffee break.
Efforts are being undertaken to have an option for members not on St. John’s campus to connect virtually.
International Workers’ Day or Labour Day, sometimes referred to as May Day, acknowledges workers and celebrates the labour movement. In many countries this generally occurs on May 1st.
More information to follow.
